Our Adoption Process:
To be considered as an adopter:
- You must be 21 years of age or older.
- If you rent your home, you must have consent from your landlord.
- Have any dogs/cats in your home spayed or neutered, if they are 6 months or older, unless there are medical reasons for not doing so.
- Have all dogs/cats in the home up-to-date on vaccinations.
- Agree to have a home visit done by one of our volunteers. The volunteer will need to see all areas of the home; including garage, yard, and basement; and also visit with all family members and current pets. Distance is a factor in whether or not the required home visit can be completed. We are a 100% volunteer-run organization, and although we do have volunteer contacts in many areas, in some cases we may not be able to locate a volunteer close by to conduct the visit.
Our
adoption process includes four steps (in this order):
1. Completion of an application
2. A veterinary reference/check on any past and current pets (pets should be/have been,
spayed or neutered and current on recommended vaccinations, including rabies shot)
3. A home visit (the home visit is simply a walk-through of your home, to be sure it's set up as a safe and secure environment for a rescued animal)
4. A meet and greet with the adoptable animal.
We require a completed application to start the adoption process. There is no obligation to adopt by completing the application.
We attempt to move applications through our system in a timely manner and can often complete the entire process within a week's time, depending on the availability of both the volunteers involved and the applicant. Our goal is to place our adoptable animals in fully-screened, loving and safe environments, which are the "best fit" for the animal and the adopter, as quickly as possible. It's our goal to help our animals find the most dedicated and responsible forever home we can.
All of our available animals are currently living in foster homes. Each animal is up- to-date on age appropriate vaccinations. All of our animals will be spayed/neutered or, if they are too young, will require a spay/neuter contract and $50 deposit. The deposit is refunded upon verification of the surgery by your veterinarian. Adoption fees vary, so please go to the available adoptables link and click on the name of the animal to see what their adoption fee is.
