Our Adoption Process:

Picture
To be considered as an adopter:
  • You must be 21 years of age or older.
  • If you rent your home, you must have consent from your landlord.
  • Have any dogs/cats in your home spayed or neutered, if they are 6 months or older, unless there are medical reasons for not doing so.
  • Have all dogs/cats in the home up-to-date on vaccinations.
  • Agree to have a homevisit done by one of our volunteers. The volunteer will need to see ALL areas of the home; including garage, yard, and basement; and also visit with all family members and current pets. Distance is a factor in whether or not the required homevisit can be completed. We are a 100% volunteer-run organization, and although we do have volunteer contacts in many areas, in some cases we may not be able to locate a volunteer close by to conduct the visit. We will let you know ASAP if you live our of our current 'service' area.

Our adoption process includes four steps (in this order):

1.    Completion of an application

2.    A veterinary reference/check on any past and current pets (pets should be/have been,
spayed/neutered and current on recommended vaccinations, including rabies shot.)

3.    A homevisit  (the homevisit is not a "white-glove" test of your housekeeping skills--it's
simply a walk-through of your home, to be sure it's a safe/ good place for a rescued animal)

4.    A meet and greet with the adoptable animal.

We require a completed application to start the screening/pre-adoption process. There is no obligation in completing the application.

We attempt to move applications through our system in a timely manner, and can often complete the entire process within a week's time; depending on the availability of both the volunteers involved and the applicant.  Our goal is to place our adoptable animals in fully-screened, loving and safe environments which are "best fit" for the animal and the adopter, as quickly as possible. However, since the animals in our rescue have been displaced at least once already in their lives, it is our goal to help them find the most dedicated and responsible forever home we can.

All of our available animals are adopted out from foster homes with age-appropriate vaccinations.  All of our animals will be spayed/neutered or, if they are too young, will require a spay/neuter contract/agreement and $50 deposit.  The deposit is refunded upon verification of the surgery by your veterinarian.  Adoption fees vary, so please go to available dogs/ or cats and click on the name of the animal to see what their adoption fee is.
An approved application means that the applicant is approved to adopt a dog from our organization, it is not a guarantee that the applicant will get to to adopt the dog they've specified on the application.
Please keep in mind:
  We do not hold dogs.
If you are asked for further information,
please provide it as soon as possible.
If another family has applied in the meantime, meeting all qualifications prior to you
completely submitting your information, including having their full screening including homevisit, the dog may be adopted out to the other family if they are 'best fit'.
We do not adopt on a first-come, first-served basis.
We select the best home for each of our animals.
We are volunteers with families and jobs.
We do our very best to respond to ALL e-mails within 24 hours

Thank you in advance for your patience!
PLEASE NOTE:  We reserve the right to deny any application without explanation.
